Finally back to normal after the Mission Arts Council show on the weekend, which was fabulous! Many paintings went to new homes, but I've got plenty of new work to show! This is a Vancouver scene, The "Save on Meats" store on East Hastings. The sign is iconic and rather awesome in terms of anthropomorphism, one of my favorite things, particularly in food marketing. It's an oil painting, 8x10, on archival Russian Birch panel. It's for sale, incidentally, feel free to email me for pricing and so forth.

A triumph of anthropomorphism...a cow laughing maniacally while wearing earrings upon which her image is also wearing earrings, and so on. Having said that, this is a really graphic and engaging package, and I had to paint it. It took me forever, but it was fun, and I'm thrilled with the end result. Oil on birch panel, 8x10.

"Chef" Tin Work in Progress
A painting that's about halfway through the process. The tin is really old and has a lot of discoloration and water damage, so I'll be moving onto that soon. It's important to me that the painting honors the actual object....this tin has likely been around for a century or so, and I'm determined to portray it as realistically as possible. It's 8x10, oil on birch panel.
In other news, off to be juried for a fall show! I hope it goes well, and that the dates work out!
